Pomodoro rhythms, explained.

A Pomodoro rhythm is two numbers: minutes of focus, then minutes of break. 25/5 is the classic, but the right one depends on the task and on you. Here is every rhythm we make sessions for, from 15/5 to 90/15.

Questions

Pomodoro rhythms, answered.

What are the most common Pomodoro rhythms?

The classic is 25/5: 25 minutes of focus and a 5-minute break. You can also use 50/10 for steady study and 90/15 for deep work.

Which Pomodoro rhythm is best for studying?

There is no single best one. 25/5 or 30/5 helps you start, 40/10 and 50/10 suit steady study, and 60/10 or 90/15 suit long, demanding blocks.

What does 25/5 mean?

25 minutes of focused work followed by a 5-minute break. The first number is the focus time and the second is the break.

Can I make my own rhythm?

Yes. In the free Pomodoro timer choose Custom and set any focus and break length.

How do I choose a rhythm?

Start short, notice when your attention fades, and set your block just before that point. Your Pomodoro doesn’t have to be 25/5 explains how.
